National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Each October, the country celebrates National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign led by the National Breast Cancer Foundation to increase awareness of the disease. Throughout the month, the Foundation helps raise funds for breast cancer research and educates people about early detection and treatment.

While breast cancer is frightening, it is very treatable if found and treated early. During October, the National Breast Cancer Foundation undertakes initiatives to ensure that people realize the importance of early detection. To help spread the message, you can raise awareness by participating in the following events and activities:

  • Donate to your local breast cancer charity.
  • Get involved with a breast cancer awareness fundraiser, such as a run or walk.
  • Volunteer your time with a local charity that supports breast cancer awareness.
  • Take charge of your own health and help spread the word about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

Talk to your primary care provider about scheduling your mammogram or breast exam at Paris Community Hospital. We provide a wide range of health screenings and preventative care options. We can also provide recommendations for treatment if any breast health issues are detected.
