Observes National Rural Health Day Nov. 16
In observance of National Rural Health Day November 16, Paris Community Hospital/Family Medical Center is proud to recognize the innovation, quality of care, and dedication of health professionals and volunteers in its communities.
As part of this year’s observance, Paris Community Hospital is being recognized as a top performing rural hospital in the nation for its excellence in quality and patient satisfaction. The announcement was made by the Chartis Center for Rural Health and the National Organization of State Office of Rural Health (NOSORH).
Top performing rural hospitals are determined each year using the Chartis Center’s “Hospital Strength INDEX,” a product of iVantage Health Analytics, the industry’s most comprehensive and objective assessment of rural hospital performance.
“This recognition demonstrates our staff’s commitment to providing quality care,” said Oliver Smith, PCH/FMC president & CEO. “It further emphasizes our mission of providing excellent patient care and promoting wellness throughout our communities.”
Approximately 62 million people – nearly one in five Americans – live in rural communities. NOSORH created National Rural Health Day as a way to increase awareness of the unique healthcare issues facing rural communities. These include patient accessibility to healthcare services, a lack of healthcare providers, and the ability to meet the needs of an aging population suffering from a greater number of chronic conditions.
Earlier this summer, PCH/FMC received a five-star rating for patient satisfaction (the highest rating possible) from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS). It also received a four-star rating by the CMS Overall Hospital Quality Star Reporting program.
