PCH/FMC Welcomes Hetal Vora, Doctor of Physical Therapy

07/07/2016

Paris Community Hospital/Family Medical Center welcomes Hetal Vora, doctor of physical therapy (DPT), to its Rehabilitation Services Department.

With the addition of Vora, the rehab department now includes six physical therapists, five of whom are doctors of physical therapy. The department also consists of five physical therapist assistants.

Originally from India, Vora lives in Paris with her husband, Dr. Kumar Sodvadiya, family medicine physician in the Paris Family Medical Center. The couple has a daughter, Aarya, 18 months old.

“We wanted to settle down in a small, quiet area,” Vora said. “We also chose Paris to be in a central location to stay in contact with friends in Chicago, St. Louis, and Terre Haute.”

Vora has been a physical therapist for six years. Prior to joining PCH/FMC, she worked as a physical therapist at an outpatient rehab facility in New York City. She also worked as a physical therapist in India and completed a physical therapy internship in suburban Chicago.

Vora earned a doctor of physical therapy degree at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in North Chicago, and a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy at MS University in India. She utilizes the following physical therapy techniques:

  • McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (Lumbar Spine) – a scientifically proven assessment process that identifies the best treatment solution for back, neck, and extremity problems (shoulder, knee, ankle, etc.).
  • Positional Release Technique – a gentle treatment to relieve muscular tension and reestablish pain-free range of motion in joints.
  • Mulligan Manual Therapy – a simple and effective approach to musculoskeletal disorders that involves pain-free manual joint “repositioning” to restore function and rid pain.

In her spare time, Vora enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with family.

The PCH/FMC Rehabilitation Services Department provides physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and cardiac rehabilitation.  For more information about these services, call 217-465-2606, Ext. 244 or click here.
