Horizon Health's Eunice Chaney Honored for Years of Rural Health Service

Horizon Health Chief Risk and Privacy Officer Eunice Chaney was recently honored by the Illinois Rural Health Association (IRHA) for her dedication and years of service to rural health.

Chaney has served on the IRHA Board for more than a dozen years, including on the organization’s Executive Board as both secretary and treasurer.

“Horizon Health is incredibly proud of Eunice and the many years of service she has given to rural health,” said Jay Carmichael, Horizon Health President & CEO. “Her commitment to supporting rural communities, sharing her knowledge, and helping strengthen healthcare across our region is an example of the difference one person can make.”

The award was presented July 29 in conjunction with the IRHA’s annual educational conference at the I-Hotel in Champaign. Chaney’s family and colleagues surprised her by attending the awards dinner to share in the special recognition.

“Eunice was always the first to volunteer – whether it was finding a doctor or other health professional for us to speak to students about careers in rural health or sharing her expertise on what educational topics would be the most beneficiation to our membership,” said Margaret Vaughn, IRHA executive director. “Eunice has been an invaluable member of our Board and the rural health community she serves.”

First organized in 1989, the IRHA is a collaborative association comprised of more than 500 members, including hospitals, rural health clinics, public health departments, practitioners, consumers, and public officials. Its mission is to strengthen health systems for rural residents and communities through advocacy, education, networking, and leadership.
