Debbie Griffin, FNP-C, CDE, of Paris Community Hospital/Family Medical Center, recently renewed her Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) status by successfully completing the continuing education renewal process.
Renewing her CDE credential demonstrates Griffin’s dedication to her diabetes specialty, according to the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE). It also shows that she “continues to meet a level of contemporary knowledge in diabetes self-management.”
Currently, more than 17,800 diabetes educators hold the NCBDE certification.
Griffin has been affiliated with PCH/FMC since 1983. During her tenure at the hospital, she has significantly contributed to the success of the organization’s Diabetes Education Program, which is recognized by the American Diabetes Association.
Upon completing her master’s degree in nursing, Griffin transitioned from her duties as clinical director of the Diabetes Education Program to a family nurse practitioner in the Paris Family Medical Center in early 2012. In doing so, she maintained her status as a certified diabetes educator.
Griffin is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, American Diabetes Association, American Association of Diabetes Educators, and the Edgar County Diabetes Association. In addition to her credential as a diabetes educator, she is an instructor for the American Lung Association.
