The Horizon Health Laboratory has been nationally recognized for its quality of service and commitment to excellence for the past three decades.
The recognition comes from the College of American Pathologists (CAP), which is considered the “gold standard” in laboratory accreditation. CAP accreditation means the lab meets or exceeds the most stringent quality control standards in the industry.
The Horizon Health Laboratory has been CAP-accredited since 1991. Its most recent accreditation came in late 2023 and continues through November 21, 2025. The accreditation process involved an on-site visit from CAP inspectors who examined the laboratory’s records and quality control of procedures for the previous two years. The inspection included examination of the entire staff’s qualifications, the laboratory equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management of the department.
Horizon Health is one of more than 8,000 CAP-accredited laboratories worldwide. In 2023, the lab performed nearly 193,000 orderable tests, a four percent increase over 2022.
Horizon Health is a leader in quality healthcare and patient satisfaction with special recognitions from the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy, US Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network, National Dialysis Accreditation Commission, The Joint Commission, The Compliance Team, and others.
