Classes

Horizon Health offers lifesaving classes for the general public, as well as healthcare professionals.

Classes take place at the Horizon Health Education Department, 798 East Court Street, and at the main Horizon Health campus, 721 E. Court Street, in Paris, IL. Offsite group classes are available upon request. For more information, call 217-466-4333 or email education@myhorizonhealth

Heartsaver CPR/AED (first aid optional)

This course teaches basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).

Cost
Free. An official CPR/AED certification card from the American Heart Association is optional for $25. Note: The cost for an offsite group class is $35 per person (certification card included). Each participant can register online, or the group can be charged under one invoice. Call 217-466-4333 or email education@myhorizonhealth for this option.

Who should take this course?
Anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements.

Basic Life Support (BLS)

This course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations, and provide early use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).

Cost: $25

Who should take this course?
Healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR, and other basic cardiovascular life support skills, in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

This course builds on the foundation of basic life support (BLS) skills, emphasizing the importance of preventing cardiac arrest, early and continuous high-quality CPR, and high-performing teams.

Cost: $45. BLS can be added at the end of the course for an additional $25.

Who should take this course?
Healthcare professionals who direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies, as well as emergency response personnel.
