Dr. Sheikh Returning to PCH/FMC


Paris Community Hospital/Family Medical Center (PCH/FMC) is pleased to welcome back Rahat Sheikh, MD, to the Paris Family Medical Center, effective July 1, 2014. Dr. Sheikh was an employee of PCH/FMC previously, from 1998-2012. 

“It’s great to have Dr. Sheikh back,” said Oliver Smith, PCH/FMC president & CEO. “It has been about 18 months since his practice closed, and we have certainly missed him. His patients too have missed him. I have heard a lot of positive feedback from our community about his return.”

Dr. Sheikh is board certified in family medicine and sees patients of all ages. In October of 2007, he earned the degree of Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Additionally, he belongs to the American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, and the Illinois Academy of Family Practice. Dr. Sheikh also serves as the clinical assistant professor for the University of Illinois at Peoria.

Dr. Sheikh is a member of the Edgar County Board of Health and has been the medical director of the health department since 1999.

Dr. Sheikh’s medical/research interests include treatment of hypertension and management of diabetes, as well as behavioral disorders in children. In his spare time, Dr. Sheikh enjoys traveling and reading. He and his wife Hina live in Paris.

Dr. Sheikh will see patients in the Paris Family Medical Center Monday through Thursday from 8am to 5pm, and on Fridays from 8am to noon. To make an appointment call 217-463-1946.
