PCH/FMC Welcomes Occupational Health Provider

PCH/FMC Welcomes Occupational Health Provider

05/02/2014

PCH/FMC is pleased to welcome Tiffany Turner, family nurse practitioner, as the dedicated health provider in the hospital’s Occupational Health Department.

In this new position at PCH/FMC, Turner will work closely with area employers to provide a full-range of occupational health services, including routine health and wellness services. Her goal is to provide these services locally, which will effectively lower companies’ health and safety costs.

“For me it’s about providing something to the community that doesn’t exist already,” Turner explained. “I want to make sure [area workers] are getting their healthcare needs met and don’t have to travel outside the community to get the care they need.”

Turner will be the sole provider for employee-related healthcare. She will see patients in a clinic setting both by appointment and as urgent needs arise, such as worksite injuries. The Occupational Health Department will continue to provide on-site and off-site employment physicals, drug screenings, pulmonary function testing, audiometric testing, breath alcohol testing, lab testing, and more. Routine healthcare will include everything from treating an ankle sprain to providing a tetanus shot.

“It’s a one-stop shop,” Turner said. “Industry workers will be able to come here for all their healthcare needs and see the same provider each time. My main goal is to improve our community one person at a time.”

Turner has 19 years of nursing experience in the Wabash Valley. Her background includes occupational medicine, family practice medicine, and emergency medicine. She is a certified Medical Review Officer Assistant (MRO-A), which serves to enhance the efficiency and integrity of the drug testing review process while protecting the rights of the patient.

A resident of Terre Haute, Turner obtained her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Indiana State University. She earned her master’s degree in nursing at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Turner and her husband, Shawn, have been married for 19 years. They have two children: Austin, 16, and Nicholas, 10.
