Pre-Anesthesia Clinic

Surgery Preparation at Horizon Health

Our Pre-Anesthesia Clinic (PAC) is a “one-stop shop” for all your needs prior to your surgery.

Our medical team, which includes a designated nurse practitioner, will coordinate all your pre-surgical testing and screenings in one, easy visit. There’s no need to navigate multiple appointments or hospital departments to complete your pre-operative requirements.

How it Works

Your surgeon will place an order for your PAC visit. The day of your PAC appointment, check-in at the front desk located near the main entrance of the hospital (enter through door labeled E03).

Surgeries

The following surgeries may require a PAC visit:

  • Bariatric surgery
  • General surgery
  • Gynecology/Urogynecology surgery
  • Orthopedic surgery
  • Podiatric surgery
  • Some pain procedures

What to Expect

  • Our clinical team will provide consultation, pre- and post-operative education, and medical clearance for your surgery. Any necessary lab testing or ECG screenings will be conducted on site at the time of your visit.
  • A surgical nurse will review all
  • pre-operative instructions that are specific to your surgical case. If required, you will be given specific bowel or skin prep instructions.
  • For complex surgeries, it may be necessary for you to be examined by our anesthesia nurse practitioner. In this instance, a pre-operative physical assessment may be conducted during your visit.
  • Your appointment will take approximately 30 and 60 minutes.

Our Team

Our team includes a medical director and a nurse practitioner, who works directly with primary care physicians, referring physicians, and surgical services to streamline the surgery process. The PAC team does not replace your primary care provider.
