Considerations for Bariatric Surgery

Must be age 18 or older
Currently be 50-100 pounds above your recommended weight
- Body Mass Index (BMI) of 30 or higher (certain insurance plans may have specific BMI requirements)
Be a non-smoker for at least three months
Attend all pre-operative appointments, including visits with a registered dietitian, mental health provider, and exercise specialist, as outlined in your patient checklist
Complete all pre-operative education and preparation for surgery
Agree to take supplemental vitamins and minerals for life
Commit to the regular follow-up care required for bariatric surgery patients
